How long does membership last? Memberships are good for one year from date of purchase.

I'm renewing early, when will my membership start? Renewing memberships will automatically begin when the current membership expires.

Do the named cardholders have to share the same address? Yes, memberships are per address and we verify addresses.

Can I add extra children to the membership? Only the named cardholder's dependent children or grandchildren may be added to the membership. Violation of membership may be cause for termination.

Can I upgrade my membership later? Yes! You can upgrade your membership at any time. Membership upgrades are not prorated. 

Which events are free for members? Members enjoy free admission to our Spring Members' Night, Wizarding Weekends and Zoo Goes Boo. Members also receive exclusive early admission to many other events throughout the year, including Princess Day, Superhero Day and May The Fourth Be With You. 

Does the Guest and/or Caregiver on my membership receive reciprocal benefits? The Guest and Caregiver add-ons are for John Ball Zoo admission only. We recommend calling ahead to our reciprocal partners prior to your visit to determine their policies regarding admission for Guests and Caregivers.

What local reciprocal partnerships are available for members? We offer several local reciprocal opportunities yearly that change year to year. We also participate in the AZA reciprocal program. Please visit our member news page for a list of all available opportunities. We also communicate about our local reciprocal partnerships in Zoo News Magazine and through member emails, as well as on our Facebook page. Be sure to bring your Zoo membership card and your personal ID when you visit our partners. 

What is the Funicular? The Funicular is a tram that takes visitors in and out of the zoo. Visitors taking the Funicular up (or in) should head to the lower depot when they enter the Zoo. When they disembark, they’ll find themselves at the highest point of the zoo and will now be able to explore, walking entirely downhill. Great for guests with strollers! The other option is to take the funicular down (or out). These visitors should pick up the Funicular at end of the Forest Realm Trail after they’ve fully explored the Zoo. By taking the Funicular back to the front entrance, visitors avoid retracing their steps. 

If I purchase a gift membership, where do the cards get shipped? Gift memberships can be sent to either the gift recipient or the gift giver. The shipping address input at checkout will determine where the cards are sent.

I purchased a gift membership. Will the gift recipient receive member emails before I give it to them? Memberships are active from date of purchase and are able to be used immediately. If an email address is provided on the gift form for the membership profile, it is possible that the gift recipient will receive member emails. We send out member emails periodically about special events, member benefits and zoo news. If you'd prefer your gift recipient not receive emails in advance of them receiving their gift, please do not include their email address on your gift order.

What if I don't have my membership number when I place my order? We automatically match up incoming orders with existing membership profiles to ensure that the new year of membership will begin once the current membership expires. If you do not have your membership number handy when you place your order, we will look it up for you when we process your order.
